The Asclera® Sclerotherapy Process

Sclerotherapy is a widely used, non-surgical procedure designed to eliminate varicose veins. Often used as an alternative to surgery, this procedure can reduce or eliminate excess veins quickly with little downtime. It has been estimated that as many as 50%-80% of treated veins may be eliminated with each session of sclerotherapy.

During treatment, the Asclera solution will be injected into points of varicose veins. This special medication causes minor irritation on the inner lining of the treated veins, and over the course of a few days, the veins close. Blood reroutes to nearby veins, and the body absorbs the sealed veins, causing them to disappear gradually.

What Are the Results?

This treatment has a proven track record of success. In most cases, several sessions spaced weeks apart are needed for the best results. After your visit, you can expect small veins to fade over the course of several weeks. Veins that fade away will not return. It may take a few months for larger veins to get absorbed and disappear.

You can resume normal daily activities immediately following the procedure. Walking is actually encouraged. Support hosiery will need to be worn to compress the treated vessels.
