Botox is a Neurotoxin, and there is more than one type

You google “Botox near me”, because the word “Botox” is what you’ve always been told. But did you know, Botox is a Neurotoxin, and there is more types of Neurotoxins than Botox? Should you select an honest, professional medspa in Virginia Beach, then your injector will educate you. But sometimes when all you ask for is Botox, then Botox is all you will get, even if there are better options for you.

What are the other types of Neurotoxins?

Dysport

Dysport was first approved in April of 2009. Although a little less potent than Botox, its benefits may be of interest. Dysport has made a name for itself for being one of the longer-lasting Neurotoxins on the market. It’s more ideal for treating larger treatment areas due to its higher rate of diffusion. Dysport, however, does contain cows milk, making it unsuitable for those with milk allergies. This neurotoxin can provide a natural, much-improved appearance without looking “overdone” or “frozen”

Jeuveau

Jeuveau was approved in February of 2019. Jeuveau offers similar results to that of Botox, but with a much less price point. Patients generally see results from this neurotoxin within 3-5 days with results lasting for 3-6 months. It’s largely marketed to millennials as a preventative use in order to carve out its own niche. Unfortunately there is less data on this botox injectable, due to It being the new kid on the block.

Daxxify

Daxxify is now the newest kid on the block, FDA having approved the cosmetic injectable in 2022. It was improved to treat glabellar lines and the “11’s” between the eyebrows.  “The difference with Daxxify is that it has a proprietary peptide. It’s a shorter chain than a protein. This peptide has some activity to it.”

Which Neurotoxin should you choose?

If you have a cow’s milk allergy, then you at least know confidently which Neurotxin not to choose. As for the rest of the cosmetic injectables, their similarities and differences are so close together that it can be hard to pick. Your best option is to seek the professional option of an injector, such as that of those at Salt Spa and Wellness Center. With a lengthy amount of experience in solely injectables, Salt Spas providers can honestly report their opinions of each type of Neurotoxin. In addition, they will be able to assess your own features and concerns, and then determine the best cosmetic injectable for you, your wallet and your results.

Are there any side effects to Botox and other neurotoxins?

Side effects are typically mild and really depend on the person. Some temporary side affects you could expect include;

  • Bruising
  • Swelling
  • Redness
  • Discomfort

These side effects are typically presented at the injection sites and normally subside within a day or two.

Are Botox injectables painful?

Most clients only experience mild discomfort. Very fine needles are used, and a good injector is typically quick but precise.

Post neurotoxin injections

There is no down time following cosmetic injections. You may feel some soreness, but nothing will keep you from your daily activities. You won’t want to sweat for the first 24 hours and will want to keep from touching or rubbing the injection sites. It’s important not to lie down for the first four hours following your Botox treatment. Sometimes applying a cold compress will help alleviate any discomfort you may be feeling or experiencing.
